Partnerships

Social change philanthropy stresses the importance of partnerships as a means to being effective….
Changemakers Australia believes people are more likely to succeed in dealing with entrenched and difficult issues of poverty, discrimination and disadvantage when:
- there are effective partnerships between donors and grant recipients that recognise and respect each others’ skills and experience;
- donor funders are prepared to support research and development that identify model solutions, new ways of thinking and new understandings that help resolve societal problems;
- it is understood that projects might require longer timelines than those usually applying within conventional grant-making;
- the emphasis is on achieving and producing sustainable outcomes;
- government, business and community sectors are brought together to reform public policy and institutional processes for addressing poverty, discrimination and disadvantage;
- knowledge and learning is widely shared across the community and leads to changes in community attitudes and awareness;
- partners are committed to transparent, inclusive and accountable processes in grant-making and project operation.
